SEA ISLE CITY – May 21, Sea Isle City’s 2016 Community Day attracted hundreds of residents, property owners and visitors to the resort’s Community Lodge on JFK Boulevard, where they received a wide-range of information, disposed of unwanted prescription medications, learned safety tips, checked their blood pressure, spoke with City and County officials, and met representatives from local civic organizations. Additionally, adults could destroy personal documents thanks to a shredder-truck provided by First Bank of Sea Isle City, and children could create unique keepsakes at an Art Station provided by Jugglefish Art Gallery and Studio.
Several local residents were honored during the Community Day Award Ceremony, including the members of Sea Isle City’s Women’s Civic Club, who received First Bank of Sea Isle City’s 2016 Community Partner Award. The honor came with a check for $2000 to help support the Civic Club’s charitable efforts. It also came with the thanks of First Bank President / CEO Larry Schmidt.
“As a community bank, we are focused on giving back to our community,” said Mr. Schmidt. “With that in mind, we created the Community Partner Award to recognize like-minded groups and organizations who better the lives of our citizens here in Sea Isle City.”
Also during the ceremony, Mayor Desiderio distributed his annual “Do The Right Thing” award to Sea Isle City Board of Education President Dan Tumolo, Deacon Joe Murphy, of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, and Tourism Volunteer Jen Fabrico. Additionally, the Mayor honored 2016 New Jersey Junior National Teenager Shanna McCool with a Mayor’s Proclamation that noted Shanna’s volunteer efforts and many other achievements.
“Each of ourDo The Right Thing Award recipients deserve our thanks for the generous amount of time they donate to our community,” said the Mayor. “Also, I was a happy to honor Shanna’s many achievements and declare May 21 ‘Shanna McCool Day.’”
