OCEAN CITY – If the New Year finds you wanting to have an impact in your community, consider becoming a volunteer for Literacy Volunteers Association Cape-Atlantic (LVA.) A volunteer orientation session is scheduled Jan. 27 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the Literacy Volunteers office, 743 N. Main Street in Pleasantville.
Come meet Katherine Micale, LVA’s Program Director and learn about LVA’s mission and how volunteer training will prepare you to work with adults who want to improve their reading, writing and English language skills.
Tutor Training Workshops consist of three hour classes, held once a week for five weeks. The first workshop meets for five consecutive Tuesday mornings beginning Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon at Royal Suites on 214 West Jim Leeds Road in Galloway Township. The second workshop meets for five consecutive Saturday mornings beginning April 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ocean City Free Public Library.
