The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians of Cape May County, Division 1 wishes to thank the students who participated in our annual essay contest. This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising in Ireland. It was a time when most eyes were focused on World War I, and the Irish felt it was their moment to take a stance on gaining their independence from the Crown. Our 2016 theme was “The Involvement of Women in the Easter Rising.” Kudos to the parents and teachers of these talented students!
Our Level 1 (grades 6-8) winners are all students at Bishop McHugh Regional School: Michael Klein (grade 7), First Place; Matthew Kemenosh (grade 6), Second Place; and Emily Holzer (grade 8), Third Place. Charlotte Squillace (grade 8) of Cape Trinity School and Frankie Edwardi (grade 8) of Bishop McHugh were awarded Honorable Mention. Both Frankie and Michael won Honorable Mention for the State of New Jersey!
Level 2 (grades 9-12) winners are Chyanne Smith, senior at Cumberland Christian School, First Place; Molly McNulty, senior at Wildwood Catholic High School, Second Place; and Morgan Burkhardt, also a senior at Wildwood Catholic High School, Third Place.

Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
