COURT HOUSE — The Family & Community Health Sciences Department of Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County held a new and creative program, Junior Chefs Cooking Camp, from July 29 through August 2, 2013 for children who had completed Grades 5 – 7.
The future chefs learned many new skills plus how to prepare a variety of foods and snacks. This pilot project incorporated nutrition education with hands-on food preparation lessons to encourage a lifetime of healthy eating habits. At the end of the program, participants were able to prepare simple and healthy foods for themselves and their family.
This program was presented by Marilou Rochford, MA, CFLE, Family & Community Health Sciences Educator, Rutgers Cooperative Extension, Mary Maguire and Linda Spengler of the Ocean City School District.
