COURT HOUSE – Through the collaborative efforts of many Cape May County churches, hundreds of local families had a brighter Christmas holiday this year. A Community Christmas Celebration was organized by The Jesus House, Dec. 21. Just days before Christmas, hundreds enjoyed a buffet dinner, live holiday music, bilingual Gospel message and children’s gifts galore. Pastors Rob and Connie Meyer of The Carpenter’s Shop hosted the event at their 4505 Park Boulevard location in Wildwood. Pastor Bill Laky and the worship team from Revolve Church in North Cape May led worship for the gathering. Spanish language translation was provided by Pastor Nancy Mercado, Oasis of Blessing Church, Pacific Avenue, Wildwood. Rev. Jeanette Block and Cheryl Kurtz of the Cape May United Methodist Church provided food for the ministry. Rick Santaniello and Renee Thompson helped prepare and organize the festive meal. A gift drive, spear-headed by Magda Arroyo of The Carpenter’s Shop, obtained a small mountain of gifts for the eager children. With tears of thanksgiving, Arroyo remembers the dark days of growing up impoverished in strife-torn Poland and the great joy of receiving a gift box from overseas. Gifts were donated from The Seashore Church of the Nazarene (Thanks, Almond and Fred!) with special thanks to Tony Morano, who also works with Toys for Tots.
