My name is Jeremiah Schenerman. I’m a 27-year-old lifelong Cape May County resident and on Nov. 6, I’m asking for your vote for County Freeholder. I grew up in Delsea Woods mobile home park with my three brothers and three sisters and attended Lower and Middle Township schools. After graduation I joined the 50th BSTB Army National Guard. Working in Cape May since the age of 14, I’ve worked in construction, tourism, landscaping, restaurants, historic preservation and hospitality management.
I first got involved in politics when I was 16. My mom moved us to Indian Trail Road, down the street from the Home Depot. I helped canvass for the Friends of Indian Trail campaign to help stop a gravel pit on 260 acres of adjacent land. I now live in Lower Township where I run a small business and do what I can to better my local community. This past winter, I helped organize a small fundraiser to address a lesser known issue to cover student lunch debt in Lower Township area schools by knocking on homes and businesses, and starting a GoFundMe page.
I’m running for County Freeholder because we have the most beautiful beaches and waterways, the best family shore towns in the United States, farms both small and large, industries like fishing, tourism and construction, and, given all of that, we’re still missing out on some of the full potential of our county. I’m running for County Freeholder because if elected, I will be the vote against wasteful spending, the vote for transparency and will provide the board with a much needed new, younger face that is willing to focus on the issues in our county that the current Board of Freeholders choose not to address or talk about. I’m running for the year-round residents who have been asked to pay more for less and whose neighborhoods, streets and concerns are ignored by their local government.
I ask that you visit CapeMayConnected.com for a full platform and vote column 2 on Nov. 6.
