AVALON – June 24, nearly 200 athletes ages 7-15 came together in Avalon, NJ, for the 12th Annual Tim Kerr Charities Triathlon. The Island Kids Triathlon is the largest youth triathlon in the mid-Atlantic region, comprised of a 100-meter swim, 5k bike and a 1k run on the beach and around the closed streets of Avalon. The focus of the event is on fun, finishing and racing for charity.
Tim Kerr Charities, Inc. is a non-profit organization established in 1989 by former Philadelphia Flyers player, Tim Kerr, to raise funds for physically and mentally-challenged children and their families. Along with its many sponsors, Tim Kerr Charities’ mission is to produce multisport events for families at the highest possible levels of challenge, safety and integrity, while making lasting and positive contributions to participating athletes, the community at large and the worthwhile charities they support. The proceeds from this years’ Island Kids Triathlon will go directly to the New Jersey Pediatric Patients’ Charitable Trust Fund.
