COURT HOUSE — No sooner has the winner been selected for the title of “Miss America 2016” than the process has begun in 2015 to pick a winner for “Miss America 2017.”
Kay Aspell, managing director of the Performing Arts Center of Middle Township, has announced the names of the six winners of preliminary competitions held at The PAC. Their early victories will qualify them as automatic entries in the Miss New Jersey Pageant in Ocean City in 2016, and that winner will represent New Jersey in the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City in September 2016, when Miss America 2017 will be chosen.
The early contenders are Alyssa Sullivan of Court House, Miss Eastern Shore; Myra McCann of Ocean City, Miss Atlantic Shore; Brenda Weick of Mantua, Miss Seashore Line; Madison Welch of Westville, Miss Coastal Shore; Kelcie Klaus of Pittman, Miss cape Shores, and Fiona DiGennaro of Middletown, Miss South Shore.
The current Miss America 2016 is Betty Cantrell of Georgia, who will serve in that national title until Sept. of 2016 when the new Miss America will be crowned. Miss New Jersey is Linda Giannini of Hammonton, who won a $6,000 scholarship for winning first place in the Quality of Life portion of the Miss America Pageant.
