Group to Open Free Meal Center in Burleigh

BURLEIGH — The Free Meal Center, (TFMC) 1206 Route 9 South, a secular, non-profit, charitable organization, operated by five Board of Director members and a network of volunteers, and funded by donations and grants will provide nutritious, free, on-site meals in the county, to anyone who walks through their doors.
Participants wlll be treated in a manner that preserves and enhances the dignity of each individual.
Volunteers and organizations may also offer information and advice concerning finances, housing, health and nutrition, and job and career needs to willful participants.
The group has a purchase agreement on a former restaurant in Burleigh. The 4,000 square-foot facility, situated on 2.2 acres, has four dining rooms, four restrooms, a large kitchen area, and parking for about 40 cars. It’s centrally located in the county and easy to find.
TFMC takes possession of the building March 15, and hopes to be open to the public by Memorial Day. Tax-deductible donations can be made via on the Web site at www.freemealcenter.com or by sending a check to: The Free Meal Center, PO Box 863, Court House, NJ 08210.
Board of Directors members are: Douglas Jewell, Nicholas Nastasi, Burgess “Butch” Hamer, Joyce Jewell and Kathleen Matthews.
