Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program Focuses on Developing Healthy Eating Habits

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Rutgers Cooperative Extension Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) will hold the next Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group Oct. 27, 2016 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Court House-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
This month’s program will include a  presentation by Marilou Rochford, FCHS Educator, on Developing Healthy Eating Habits.  Rochford said, “Making healthy food choices is easier once you know what foods you should consume and what foods to avoid.  However, sometimes we are misled to believe a food product is healthier than it is.”  Rochford added, “We will demonstrate how to be a smart food shopper and simple ways to shift to healthier food choices.”
Childcare will be provided for the grandchildren. A light supper for the grandparents and grandchildren begins promptly at 5:30 p.m. and the program will follow at 6 p.m.
Also, Grandparents are invited to attend Coffee Fridays, an informal setting, for grandparents to come learn about resources and support available to them plus share their thoughts and concerns.  The next Coffee Fridays session will take place  Oct. 28 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Court House-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
There is no charge for either program, however, please call Marian at (609) 465-5115, ext. 609 to register or for more information.
