COURT HOUSE — Literacy Volunteers improve lives through adult education. You can learn how by joining Literacy Volunteers Association’s upcoming Tutor Training.
Adults who lack adequate literacy skills are five times more likely to live in poverty. One in five adults in New Jersey reads, writes or speaks English at the 5th grade level or below. When literacy levels do not meet the requirements of the workplace, the results can be unemployment, under-employment and insufficient income to sustain a family. Literacy education is a key element in the fight against poverty.
Tutor training classes are scheduled in Cape May County for five consecutive Wed. evenings, 6 – 9 p.m., beginning on April 23rd at the Cape Technical School in Cape May Court House. During 15 hours of training, you can learn how to teach basic literacy and English language skills to adults in your communities.
Sign up now for Literacy Volunteers Cape-Atlantic’s tutor training so you can help adults who want to reach their potential through education. Adult students are waiting to improve their reading, writing and English language skills. For complete tutor training registration information, please visit the Literacy Volunteers’ website, www.lvacapeatlantic.org or call the Literacy Volunteers office at 609-383-3377.
