ERMA – The Cape May County Service Unit Girl Scout Troops participated in a “Cupcakes for Kindness” event Oct.15 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
Fifty-one girls attended the hour and a half event which focused on spreading kindness through the community.
There were six kindness stations that the girls rotated through during the event:
Station 1 – Cheer a Senior – the girls made Thanksgiving turkey magnets and colored placemats for local senior citizens. They completed 50 magnets
Station 2 – PB and Jelly – the girls decorate paper lunch bags and filled with pb and jelly sandwiches and snack bags. The girls made 41 lunch bags which were donated to Lazarus House.
Station 3 – Color a Smile – the girls completed coloring pages for shut ins, sick, military or those in need of a smile. They completed 43 coloring pages that were sent to Color a Smile organization.
Station 4 – Cat/Dog toys – the girls made 62 animal toys to be donated to local animals in need.
Station 5 – Military cards – the girls wrote notes and created cards to be sent to our military.
Station 6 – Cupcakes – the girls decorated cupcakes. They made 110 cupcakes which were donated to Branches.
The girls are in several different troops throughout Cape May County that fall under the “Cape May County Service Unit.” Once a month the Service Unit attempts to hold a Community Service event for all the girls to get together and participate in.
Future events are: Nov. 3 where they will be placing flags on the Veteran’s Cemetery and Dec. 3 where they will be singing Christmas carols at The Shores Wesley Manor.
