Entry forms are now available for Ocean City’s 53rd annual Night in Venice Boat Parade and Bayfront competition, July 25 and the 100th Baby Parade, Aug.13.
The Ocean City Baby Parade is the longest, continuously held event of its kind in the nation.
The optional decorating theme for Night in Venice will be “You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby,” to celebrate the Baby Parade’s centennial. Night in Venice will also honor the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies with a special lead boat.
The modern version of Night in Venice began in 1954 to mark the City’s Diamond Jubilee or 75th Anniversary. It has been held every year since then.
The Baby Parade has categories for children from infants to 10 years of age in decorated go-carts, strollers, coaches, kiddie cars, Express Wagons, and walking.
There is a $5 entry fee. Each child receives a loving cup souvenir for being in the Parade. Special awards are presented to winners in front of the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, following the parade. Registration closes noon, Tues., Aug. 12.
Night in Venice award categories include best boat over and under 24 ft. in the following Divisions: Most Original, Best Decorated Lead Boat, Musical, Comic, Classic and a children’s Division (completely decorated by children 15 years and under).
Cash prizes of $500 will be given to outstanding boats in various categories and to Best Decorated Homes.
Registration headquarters for the Baby Parade is the Information Center at the Boardwalk, open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
