CAPE MAY – The Friends of the Physick Estate, an affinity group of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC), dropped off donations of food and personal care items this spring to benefit the Community Food Closet of Cape May at the Cape May Presbyterian Church.
The items were collected on three days in March and two days in April when the Friends gave free tours of the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., in exchange for donations of items worth at least $5. Dozens of visitors to the estate on March 7, 14, 21 and April 4 and 11 took advantage of the opportunity to take a guided tour of Cape May’s only Victorian house museum in exchange for donations that included much-needed personal items like individual-sized portions, small jars of jelly, syrup, coffee, paper goods and detergent, as well as cash donations. Shown here, Food Closet Co-director Tina Johnson, right, received donations from Friends of the Physick Estate, from left, Carol Hartman, Barbara Oberholtzer and Audrey Conant.
The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) is a multifaceted not-for-profit organization committed to promoting the preservation, interpretation, and cultural enrichment of the Cape May region for its residents and visitors. MAC membership is open to all.
