Friends of OC Pops’ Luncheon August 18

By Press Release

OCEAN CITY – The weather has been scorching but not as hot as the tickets that are now on sale for the 22nd annual Friends of the Ocean City Pops luncheon at Greate Bay Country Club on Thursday, August 18.
“Summer Serenade” is the 2011 theme of this very popular fundraising endeavor in support of the outstanding Ocean City Pops orchestra. One of the many highlights on the program will be great singing by tenor Jeffrey Halili, whose recent credits include performances with opera companies in New York City, San Antonio, and Nashville.
Friends trustee Amelia Batastini, who is organizing the luncheon with the help of more than 20 volunteers, promises a delightful time for every guest.
“We’ll have raffles, a silent auction, and numerous baskets filled with beautiful items and gift certificates that the Ocean City merchants and organizations are generously donating,” she said.
Halili, the featured performer, is a graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. On July 31, he will appear with the Ocean City Pops on the Music Pier in the “Our Three Tenors I” concert.
Doors to the luncheon at Greate Bay Country Club will open at 11:30 am, and valet parking is available. Tickets are $40 per person. They may be purchased at the Music Pier before Pops concerts and during intermissions until August 10.
For more information, contact Marie Knight at 609-204-2060.
The luncheon is part of a special season that includes commemorating Conductor and Artistic Director William Scheible’s 25th year with the Pops orchestra. The Friends of the Ocean City Pops also recently launched a major fundraising campaign, the Scheible Encore Society.
