WILDWOOD – Free training in identifying and preventing hazards during the post-Sandy cleanup is being offered to property owners, residents, workers and volunteers throughout Cape May County.
The New Jersey Work Environment Council (WEC) and its “Safer After Sandy” project will be presenting two workshops Sept. 19.
The workshops include information on what you need to know to protect yourself from mold and a hazard map interactive exercise on eliminating and reducing risks of accidents and injuries in the home or workplace.
An overview of worker rights, including whistleblower protection and employer responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and NJ Public Employees Occupational Safety and Health Act (PEOSHA) will also be included as part of the program.
In order to bring information to as many people as possible, sessions will be held during both the daytime and evening hours. The morning workshop will be offered from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m and will include an in-depth presentation on mold. The afternoon workshop will be held from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m.
The workshops will be held in the Commissioners’ Boardroom in Wildwood City Hall, 4400 New Jersey Avenue. Pre-registration is required.
