SEA ISLE CITY – Three years ago, Sea Isle City was the first seashore municipality in the region to offer free seasonal beach tags to United States veterans, courtesy of VFW Post 1963. To obtain a free veterans beach tag, which will grant full access to any of Sea Isle City’s beaches during the 2012 summer season, veterans must bring their DD214 discharge forms to VFW Post 1963, located at Cini Avenue and JFK Boulevard adjacent to the north-side of the Sea Isle Bridge, on Wednesdays (2:00 to 4:00 p.m.), Fridays (2:00 to 6:00 p.m.), and Saturdays and Sundays (2:00 to 5:00 p.m.) until May 30. Sea Isle City’s 2012 Veterans Beach Tags are only intended for use by veterans – not their families. All vets (including those who own homes in Sea Isle City as well as those who are visiting the island for a short stay) are eligible for a free Veterans Beach Tag.
In 2011, Sea Isle’s City Council passed an ordinance that also allows active United States military personnel to use the resort’s beaches for free, provided they obtain a “discounted” beach tag from the Sea Isle City Beach Tag Office. To receive a 100% discount on beach tags for themselves and their immediate family members (spouses and/or children over age 12) during the summer months, current active duty military members must fill-out a brief application and present their valid active military identification cards at Sea Isle’s Beach Tag Office, located at 42nd Place and the Bay, between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day.
To learn more about Sea Isle’s discounted beach tags for active duty military members, phone the Sea Isle City Beach Tag Office, (609) 263-1771.
