Former Champ Joe Frazier headlines three-day event

The new Smokin Joe Frazier’s Sportzbox Theatre & Show Bar announces The “Champs and Stars” Weekend featuring over 30 celebrities in a three-day event.
June 12 is the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with a stellar line up of VIPs and celebrities in the kick off for the weekend at the Boardwalk in front of Bally’s.
The Hollywood Style Red Carpet with celebrity interviews will then be led up the Boardwalk to Bally’s then through the Casino to the 6th Floor Ballroom for the Celebrity Charity Cocktail and Dance Party featuring Carmen Dee orchestra.
Rumored to appear in a Saturday Night Live bit is Joe Piscopo, songs by several notable, as well as local talents from Bobby Rydell, NBCTV’s Michele Dawn Mooney, Cathy Rocco and Wildwood’s own Joey M. Guests will meet and have photo ops with celebrities and dance as well.
Part of the proceeds will be donated to Gilda’s Club of South Jersey.
Local sponsors include the Catanoso family and Steel Pier, the Palace Hotel of Cape May and South Jersey Adjustment Bureau, Inc., Public Adjusters.
Saturday night is the “Champs and Stars Show”, a kind of Dean Martin Roast meets the Hollywood Squares in a comedy-based game show with some seven sports celebrities pitted against seven entertainment celebrities hosted by Al Bernstein, Dave Bontempo, and the comedy of Jeff Pirrami, noted New York Friars Club Roast Master.
The celebrity list includes Smokin Joe Frazier, the Avalon String Band, Bill Bergey, the Carmen Dee Orchestra, Bobby Rydell, just to mention a few.
June 14 is the Celebrity Charity Golf Tournament at Blue Heron Pines Golf Course with PGA Senior Tour Champ, Allen Doyle, and a Hole-in-One contest for a new Lincoln, courtesy of Kindle Auto Plaza. Tickets are available through Paypal.com.
“Joe Frazier and I had a talk and considered what great fun it would be to get the combination of sports and entertainment celebrities together in a fun-filled comedy based venue,” said Wildwood’s Anthony DiSimone, Sportzbox™ CEO. “After that, it all came together.
“Sportzbox™ is envisioned to become a full service entertainment facility with a 3,000 seat arena, broadcast capable for shows, concerts, restaurant, boxing events and more.”
