COURT HOUSE – Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County invites you to celebrate the 5th annual Food Day in Cape May County on Oct. 9, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event will be held outdoors on the grounds of Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Court-House-So. Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, NJ.
The day will include a farmer’s market, educational exhibits, Jersey Fresh cooking demonstrations, flowers, speakers, children’s poster contest and more. Learn what it means to shop local and how to start your own vegetable garden! Join local farmers, beekeepers, chefs, gardeners, bakers, food vendors and others. Celebrate delicious eating!
Featured speaker, Bruce Crawford, Director of Rutgers Gardens, will speak about growing vegetables in the home landscape. Rutgers Gardens were first established in 1927 and are horticultural collections arranged in garden settings. They are located on Cook Campus, Rutgers, New Brunswick.
Rutgers Against Hunger (RAH!) asks for canned food donations that day for the Community Food Bank of South Jersey for distribution to Cape May County residents.
What is Food Day?
Food Day is a nationwide campaign to eat healthy, support sustainable farms, end hunger, curb junk food marketing to kids, and protect the environment and animals. Food Day is a day to inspire Americans to take a look at what they are eating. It’s a day of community awareness about local agriculture and horticulture, food vendors and restaurateurs, and the businesses within the community who are actively working to improve the quality of life in Cape May County.
