COURT HOUSE – The maker movement in the United States isn’t just a hobby, it’s fun! It is also having a significant impact on school curriculum development and growing local economies.
To celebrate making and maker culture, residents throughout New Jersey will come together March 9, 12 p.m.–7 p.m., and March 10, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., in libraries, schools, museums, colleges, maker spaces, businesses and other community locations for the fourth annual NJ Makers Day.
Cape May County Library is proud to be once again a participating site for New Jersey Makers Day March 9, 12 p.m.–7 p.m., and March 10, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.! Their “STEAMengine” maker space, has been renovated just in time.
Community members of all ages are invited to join them for an exciting day filled with activities focusing on maker culture. “We are very happy to be able to bring this type of programming to the community,” stated Deb Poillon, director. “We are committed to finding ways to help people learn new skills and work collaboratively on exciting hands-on projects.”
Come and experience their new Vive – Virtual Reality, join in on their Strawbees Building Challenge, drive a robot, fly a drone and much more. Their friends from the Wireless Aircraft Sport Pilots, Cellular Tracking Technologies, Cape May County Technical Schools and more, will be on hand with even more fun.
Maker spaces across the state are having a significant impact on education and job skills development by providing access to people, information, resources, and tools that facilitate making to a wide variety of skill levels. NJ Makers Day allows communities to share hands-on programming opportunities, demonstrations and displays, and the expertise of the individuals and organizations that make, create, and develop right in their own backyards.
