Fall Family Festival Delighted Tens of Thousands

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – Tens of thousands of people attended Sea Isle City’s 24th Annual Fall Family Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15. The popular autumn celebration, hosted by the resort’s Division of Tourism, attracted fun-seekers of all ages, who were eager to make the most of the weekend’s moderate seasonal temperatures and the festival’s many enjoyable events.
As a cool breeze carried children’s laughter across Excursion Park on Saturday, countless families enjoyed a variety of free activities – including face-painters, balloon artists, an instant photo booth, inflatable obstacle courses and live music by The Good Tymes Band. A 400-vendor Seaside Market along the Promenade, a tempting food court on JFK Boulevard and a free sand sculpting demonstration and contest on the JFK Boulevard Beach also made Saturday a day to remember.
While judges were busy choosing the winners of this year’s sand sculpting contest, spectators were posing for family photos next to a huge sand castle, erected by Chuck Feld from Sand Pounders Professional Sand Sculptors. Later, trophies for the best amateur sand sculptures were distributed to Andrew Kirkpatrick, of Media, PA, first place; the O’Connell-Pratt Family of Cohoes, NY, second place; and Linda Arnold, of Sea Isle City, third place.
On Saturday evening, after the festival’s daytime activities were over, a large crowd returned to Excursion Park for a free concert by The Quailes.
Fall Family Festival continued on Sunday morning with free guided trolley tours, led by members of the Sea Isle City Historical Society, live music by the Snake Brothers Band and the 10th Annual Gerard A. Desiderio Antique Auto Show, which took place along the Promenade north of JFK Boulevard.
Thanks to the large number of well-maintained vintage cars and trucks entered in the antique auto show, judges had their work cut out for them while choosing this year’s winners. Ultimately, Thomas Innocente, of Somers Point, NJ, won the Mayor’s Choice Trophy for his green 1953 Oldsmobile Ninety-eight Holiday Edition, and Robert and Arleen Ward, of Ocean View, received the Best in Show trophy for their red 1964 Ford Falcon convertible.
Later in the day, each of the classic vehicles that appeared in the antique auto show paraded through town, bringing this year’s Fall Family Festival to a dramatic close.
