WILDWOOD – The men and women of the Wildwood police department proudly commend and recognize Capt. Joseph Murphy upon his graduation from the 259th session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy in Quantico Va. March 20.
The 259th session of the National Academy consisted of two hundred and twenty men and women from forty nine states. Included in the class are members of law enforcement agencies from the District of Columbia, 24 international countries, six military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations.
The national academy program, held at the FBI Academy, offers 10 weeks of advanced investigative, management and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies. The national academy attendance is an invitation only opportunity offered to the top one percent of the law enforcement community.
Captain Murphy, whose law enforcement career began in 1997, is now one of 48,118 to graduate from the program since it began in July 1935. Captain Murphy received training in leadership; contemporary drug enforcement strategies; stress management; officer involved shootings; communication strategies; and advanced computer crimes.
Chief Robert Regalbuto commended Capt. Murphy, who is now the seventh member in the history of the Wildwood police department, to have the honor of being accepted to FBI National Academy. Captain Murphy’s capabilities exemplify the traits demanded of applicants that have been afforded this great opportunity. Captain Murphy returns to assume his new position as Operations Captain for the agency, responsible for personnel matters; training; discipline and officer assignments; as well as the operation of the agency in the absence of the chief.
