Wildwood Honors GWTIDA Volunteer

WILDWOOD – The Wildwood Board of Commissioners honored long-time Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority (GWTIDA) Board member Mary Erceg at the Wednesday, August 9, Commission meeting. Mayor Ernie Troiano, Jr., Commissioner Pete Byron and Commissioner Anthony Leonetti recognized Erceg for 17 years of volunteer service on the GWTIDA Board.
“For over seventeen years, Mary Erceg has provided countless hours of service to help make our community prosper,” said Mayor Ernie Troiano, Jr. “She is to be commended for her enthusiasm, dedication and years of service to the City of Wildwood. We applaud Mary for her tireless volunteer efforts to improve our entire island community.”
Mayor Troiano and Commissioners Byron and Leonetti presented Erceg with a framed proclamation declaring Thursday, August 11, 2011 as “Mary Erceg Day” in recognition of her exemplary service and strong commitment to working for the betterment of the community and her fellow citizens.
Erceg had volunteered and served on the GWTIDA Board since 1995, serving as Vice-Chairperson of the Board from August 1997 to July 2011. During her tenure, Erceg also served as Chairperson of the Finance Committee, Chairperson of the Appropriations Committee and a member of the Advertising Committee.
GWTIDA was formed in 1993 to consolidate the tourism economy of its three founding municipalities: Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and North Wildwood. The Tourism Authority operates the Wildwoods Convention Center and acts as the island’s destination marketing organization overseeing the development, research, planning, marketing, advertising, promotion, public and media relations encompassing the tourism, meeting and convention industry in the Wildwoods.
