WHITESBORO — The Homework Club, sponsored by Middle Township Recreation Department and Concerned Citizens of Whitesboro, Inc. held its award dinner and final meeting of the school year on Thursday, June 4.
All 50 participants of the club were given certificates and small gifts supplied by the Kiwanis Club of Cape May Court House.
Robert Matthews, center director, was accorded a special presentation on behalf of the students who participated in the program throughout the school year. That presentation of a handmade “sole” award, in the form of a sneaker, was presented by Ray Jefferson Jr., a senior at Middle Township High School who did tutoring at the club as part of his community service requirement to graduate.
Rosie Jefferson, a club volunteer, read several laudatory letters from High School Principal Ted Pugliese and Middle School Principal Amos Kraybill attesting to the great benefit shown in classwork and grades by the pupils who studied after school in the program.
After the presentations, a light dinner was served to all the youngsters by the volunteers.
