COURT HOUSE — A hundred volunteers of Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County (VIM) converged at Wildwood Golf and Country Club to pay tribute to Registered Nurse Marilyn Golden, according to a release.
Golden has been with VIM since the day the clinic first opened. Effective Tue., Aug. 31, she began “a much deserved (second) retirement,” the release stated.
Present in the audience were past and current volunteers and trustees and former and current medical directors.
Since 2002, Golden’s support, suggestions, advice, friendship and leadership has enabled Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County (VIM) to serve more than 3,000 people and provide more than 15,000 patient visits.
“Her gentle hand guided the clinic through several medical directors, a myriad of trustees and hundreds of volunteers,” it stated.
Executive Director Jackie Meiluta opened the festivities. After summarizing Golden’s compassion, dignity, talent, leadership and advocacy for quality health care for all, she said, “We are all sad tonight because Marilyn is retiring but we also are truly appreciative for the time we shared and the service she gave. Those of us that remain know that she leaves us well prepared – thanks to her tutelage the VIM Clinic will continue to flourish and provide needed health care to the medically uninsured and under served of Cape May County.”
Julia Hankerson, chair and the Board of Trustees, presented Golden with a plaque in appreciation and recognition of her extraordinary service to Cape VIM.
The volunteers, represented by Lory Frame, Gini Peterson and Suzi Gallagher presented Golden with a bracelet, flowers and photo album. Present in the audience were past and current volunteers and trustees and former and current medical directors.
