COURT HOUSE — The Cape May County String Band was recently awarded the Organization of the Year.
As part of this, they received an award from Cape May County freeholders, also a Joint Legislature Resolution from the State of New Jersey Senate and General Assembly and a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition.
Those were given for continued service to the community, and were presented on May 6, at the Avalon Community Hall.
This band has been giving performances at nursing homes, senior housing centers, assisted living facilities, the Woodbine Developmental Center, 4-H fairs and many other af-fairs for the past 25 years.
The band is always looking for new members to play reed or string instruments. They are also seeking some younger members.
Te band does no marching, only concerts. This may interest former string band members who can no longer march, but would like to continue to play music.
Although the band performs all year long, they will accept seasonal members. This is a family-friendly organization.

The band will have its next public appearance at the Cape May Bandstand on Sun., July 25, at 8-9:30 p.m.
