SEA ISLE CITY — Throngs of spectators filled Sea Isle City Community Lodge just to catch a glimpse of their friends and neighbors as they competed in Sea Isle’s annual Family Feud contest, Fri., Nov. 19.
It was an event hosted by the city’s Recreation Department, fashioned after the long-running TV game show, the annual competition in Sea Isle City is always a crowd-pleaser.
This year, 14 teams comprised of family members, co-workers and friends competed for a variety of prizes, ranging from a towering stack of board games to large baskets filled with party supplies. There was also a tempting snack and dessert buffet that delighted audience members and contestants as they enjoyed an evening highlighted with laughter and good cheer.
Several of the 14 teams that participated in this year’s Family Feud contest donned unique outfits and gave themselves clever names, such as “Oldies But Goodies” and “The Mad Hatters.” This year’s winning teams were “Team SSP,” “The Clickie Chicks,” “The Breakfast Club,” “Team Ludlam,” “The Browns,” “The DiCesare/Blaines,” and “Land & Sea.”
However, regardless of whether they won or lost, each team seemed to have plenty of fun during the friendly gathering.
Adding to the evening’s enjoyment was Mike Boyle, owner of Boyle Finish Carpenters of Sea Isle City, who serves as the event’s emcee each year. As he introduced the contestants and led each team through a series of questions and answers, Boyle cracked jokes and added levity to the already festive atmosphere.
“It was a very fun night,” said Boyle. “I look forward to this each year because I enjoy working with the organizers and I especially enjoy interacting with the contestants and the audience. I love the variety of crazy answers we hear – you never know what people are going to say – and there is always plenty of laughter filling the room.”
