AVALON — The Avalon Historical Society announced the winners of The 2010 Photography Contest, which was held May 17 – 29.
The winner of Best in Show was Kathy Mellor’s nature photo of a butterfly alighted on a flower. She also won first place in the Portrait Category, another first place in Nature and a third place in Scenic. Harry Flounders won first place in the new Avalon Category and second place in Scenic.
Marian McSherry won both second and third in Nature. First Place in Scenic was a sunset photo by Carol Hensel.
Additional winners were Joanne Collins, second in the Avalon Category and Lorna Davis third in that group.
Second in Portrait/Personality was won by Maura Elliott and third by Cecelia Gallagher. The photos will continue to be on display through Saturday at The History Center, 215 39th Street.
