OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of seven seasonal police officers from the Cape May County Police Academy’s 36th Special Law Enforcement Officers Class Two program.
These Officers attended the police academy for several months during the off season in order to obtain the required training to be certified as a Class II Officer.
The graduating officers will be part of the 45 seasonal officers that have been hired to supplement the police department during the summer months.
These officers will be assigned to patrol the boardwalk, beaches, noise and alcohol units and increase staffing on the four patrol squads. These officers play a vital role in maintaining the cities reputation as being a safe community.
The officers were also recognized by receiving several awards from the police academy for outstanding performance during their training. Ptl. Gabe Amend received the Director’s Award for having the highest combined grade point average in the class.
Ptl. Amand was second in firearms, third in academics, third in vehicle operations and in the top ten for physical fitness.
Ptl. Amand was also recognized by his peers and received the Merit Award as voted on by his classmates.
Ptl. Ryan Sendrick received the Vehicle Operations Award for navigating the defensive driving course in the fastest time.
The awards were presented by Anthony P. Saduk Jr., Director, Cape May County Public Safety Training Center.
