Night in Venice Starts Hour Later, 7:30 p.m. in Ocean City

Night in Venice Starting Time Change
OCEAN CITY — The starting time for Night In Venice has been changed to 7:30 p.m. on Sat., July 16. This is an hour later than usual.
Regardless of start time, Bill Dorney and his family are ready for blastoff!
A replica of the Atlantis Space Capsule was built by Ocean City resident and lifeguard, Bill Dorney. It is one of the outstanding decorations that will be displayed during the Night In Venice Weekend in Ocean City.
The capsule decorates the roof of the Dorney lagoon home at 118 W. 17th St. and during the evening it will spout smoke and sparks as if ready to take off.
The Dorney’s have been frequent award winners at the City’s Night In Venice celebration that has been held every year without interupption since 1954.
A Miss Night In Venice Pageant ,held in conjunction with the event, raises money for charitable causes. This year $66,000 will be distributed among the Hero Foundation, the Sunshine Foundation, the Ocean City After Prom and Nurses Scholarships.
The change in event start time leads to these changes…
The free Shuttle and Parking Service from the Airport and 25th and Bay and the Soccer Field off Bay and Tennessee Ave. will start at 5 p.m. (and continue until midnight.) The Shuttle will take spectators to free grandstand viewing of the Boat Parade at street ends and also to the Bayside Center, 525 Bay Avenue.
The Gates at the Bayside Center will open at 5 p.m. There will be grandstand seating, entertainment by the Good Tymes Band starting at 5:45 p.m., children’s activities including crafts and games and face painting. Visitors may bring their own picnic baskets and chairs. No Alcohol. Grandstands will be set up by the Bay for viewing the Parade. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children available at City Hall Annex, 901 Asbury Ave. Mon-Fri. from 9a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 609-525-9300 or at the Music Pier Box Office, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace open 7 days a week, 609-525-9248.
Judging of Bay front Homes will be 6 -7 p.m.
