Miss NJ Hopefuls Show Their Shoes

OCEAN CITY – Miss New Jersey’s annual parade took place on the Ocean City Boardwalk June 15 at 7 p.m.
Thirty pageant contestants showed off their outfits to this year’s theme, Miss New Jersey in Toyland, and showed their shoes, a tradition of Miss America sponsored parades. 
Cape May County is represented by Miss Cape May County Devon Vanderslice, 23, of Ocean City. Vanderslice is a graduate student at West Chester University. Her talent is dance. Her platform for the pageant is “Give Life a Second Chance.” 
Preliminaries will be held June 16-17 with the finals set for June 18 at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk. All events start at 7 p.m. There is an admission charge.
Other local contestants include:
– Miss Atlantic Shores Alyssa Sullivan, 19, of Cape May. Sullivan is a student at Atlantic Cape Community College. Her talent is vocal. Her platform is “Peer Challenge Commit 2 Character.”
– Miss Cape Resort Devon Fogarty, 24, of Marmora. Fogarty is a graduate student at Ursinus College. Her talent is dance. Her platform is “Stand Up Against Bullying.”
– Miss Columbus Day Madison Leigh Kennelly, 17, of Tuckahoe. Kennelly is a student at Gloucester County Institute of Technology High School. Her talent is tap dance. Her platform is “Lend A Paw! The Power of Pet Therapy.”
– Miss Eastern Shore Myra McCann, 23, of Ocean City. McCann is a graduate student at Saint Joseph’s University. Her talent is Irish dance. Her platform is “Making a Special Difference.” 
– Miss Middlesex County Dana Piccoli, 23, of Beesley’s Point. Piccoli is a student at Stockton University. Her talent is martial arts. Her platform is “Better Tomorrow’s Beginning Today-Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization.”
