Middle High School Graduate to Perform National Anthem for the First Lady

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP – Dom Wooten, a 2003 graduate of Middle Township High School, will perform the National Anthem at the University of Northern Iowa’s May 7th Commencement Ceremony, where First Lady Michelle Obama will be the keynote speaker.
While at Middle Township High School, Wooten was an award winning field conductor for the Panther Marching Band for two seasons. In his senior year, Wooten became one of the first African Americans to portray the role of “Jean Valjean” in the musical Les Miserables and was selected from over 300 students to perform in the final Broadway production of the show.
Upon graduation from the University of Northern Iowa in December, Wooten plans to attend graduate school at the University of Michigan or Indiana University where he will continue his studies in opera performance.
