STONE HARBOR — Thanksgiving is a time of reflection and reminds us all to say “Thank You” and acknowledge the good gifts we receive. On Sun., Nov. 27, the members of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church here used this time to dedicate the newly installed solar panels and thank those who made them possible.
Rev. John Sosnowski climbed into a bucket of a truck and was raised high above the church’s Mary Garden, in order to bless the panels. Parishioners looked on from below, donning their winter coats and hats, despite the windy weather, and took part in the service. After the service, the group sang “This Little Light of Mine” which is a perfect reminder of the sun’s warmth and the clean energy it provides.
Sosnowski notes, “Our installation of solar panels has generated a lot of interest. We are pleased that our church has invested in a ‘greener future.” The panels on our roof are a visible sign, a reminder to us all, of our call to be good stewards of the gift of creation, preserving and protecting the good earth with which God has blessed us.”
It was the members of 95th Street Power Associates, LLC, together with St. Mary’s neighbor, Sturdy Bank, who provided a portion of the funding to the LLC. The church also recognized and thanked the contractor for this installation project: Donald Powell, of Moorestown, who was also present for the ceremony. Sosnowski added “Mr. Powell’s leadership, expertise and guidance were the assets that brought this project to a successful conclusion.”
