COURT HOUSE – Lauren A. McCarthy, Pharm.D, has been appointed to the position of Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator at Cape Regional Medical Center.
Dr. McCarthy earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at State University of New York at Buffalo’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in May, 2009. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2005, and she completed her residency training at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville, NY in July, 2010. Prior to joining the team at Cape Regional Medical Center, she served as a Pharmacy Intern and a Staff Pharmacist at the Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, NY.
During her training, Dr. McCarthy served as President of the UB Student Society of Health System Pharmacists and the Student Liaison for the Western New York Society of Health Systems Pharmacists. She is an active member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the Western New York Society of Health Systems Pharmacists.
The Dr. McCarthy’s role as Clinical Coordinator includes developing programs that help optimize drug therapy and safety in the hospital, serving as a mentor to the pharmacy staff, and performing patient education through one on one patient teaching, lecturing at hospital sponsored classes and patient support groups.
“Dr. McCarthy comes to Cape May County with excellent and diverse training,” stated Richard Artymowicz, Pharm.D, Director of Pharmacy Services. “We are delighted to have her join our team.”
