CAPE MAY – The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) Volunteers of the Month for August, 2014 are the members of MAC’s hard-working, all-volunteer Grounds Crew. Shown here, from left, are: Jerry York, Cape May; Geri Breth, Cape May; Steve Irving, West Chester, Pa.; Warren Nuessle, Cape May; Sue Irving, West Chester, Pa.; and the group’s volunteer leader and organizer, Tom Carroll, Cape May. (Not shown are Dave Martz, Denny Sweetman and Frank Acker.) The all-volunteer Grounds Crew was conceived and organized by Tom Carroll, a long-time friend of MAC. The group was nominated for Volunteers of the Month by MAC Director Michael Zuckerman. “This loyal group has been coming onto the estate weekly during the busy seasons for several years, always working hard, keeping the estate looking neat, trim and beautiful for our visitors,” said Zuckerman. “The estate encompasses approximately four acres with flower beds to maintain, trees to trim and grass to mow. The work our Grounds Crew accomplishes each week is nothing short of amazing. They provide a substantial contribution to MAC and for that we are extraordinarily grateful.” The group plans on working through the fall, the Christmas season and into January. MAC benefits from the expertise of members of the community in a variety of ways. The Volunteer of the Month award is given to those who demonstrate a high degree of dedication, commitment and constancy to MAC’s volunteer program.
