Granddaughter Follows Granma’s Footsteps

By Press Release

Betty Lou McKenna, class of 1946 of Wildwood High, first appeared on stage in her high school’s production of “Romeo and Juliet.”
Over 65 years later, her 19-year-old granddaughter, Grace Agnew, will act in the same role—Juliet’s nurse.  This time, though, the Shakespeare classic is a ‘play within a play’ in the pop/rock opera “bare”, to be performed Aug.13- 15 at The Eagle Theatre in Hammonton.
Agnew is also directing and producing the show, with proceeds being donated to the South Jersey AIDS Alliance.

The family first settled in Wildwood in the very early 1900s.  McKenna’s grandfather, a Swedish fisherman, launched his boat off the beach, well before Ottens Harbor was created.  Her mother, aunts, and uncles also attended Wildwood High School, and several were lifelong residents of the island, where the family still has several houses.
McKenna passed this past September.

For details about “bare,”,visit www.theagletheatre.com or call 609-704-5012.  Tickets are just $15 for adults and $13 for students and senior citizens.
