Grad’s Incentive Was Keeping Computer

By Press Release

MAYS LANDING – April-Rose Muentz, 28, always had her eye on completing her Associate in Science in Business Administration, but her role in the Collegiate Computers Program provided an added incentive.
In August 2013, Muentz received a computer, printer, accessories and mentor through an Atlantic Cape Foundation program that allows her to keep the equipment permanently when she graduated, according to a release.
“It is an incredible opportunity because most students need access to updated Microsoft Office and Excel, and to have that at home is a bonus. Also, my scholarship program mentor, Jane Gleason, has been so important in helping me to overcome my everyday struggles against being discouraged,” Muentz stated in a release.
As a waitress, she is very grateful to have a job and the ability to serve the public, but is looking forward to pursuing actions to further her education and career experience.
During her time at Atlantic Cape, she took part in many activities including completing an internship with Coastal Broadcasting in Rio Grande. She later was employed to occasionally work events, broadcasts and aid with shows at House of Blues in Atlantic City.
In five to 10 years, she sees herself with a bachelor’s degree, possibly completing a term serving her country in the Navy and having a healthy, happy family of her own.
“To some it may not be a big deal, or to some maybe they’re not participating in the commencement. Perhaps some think it’s only a beginning to their education. However, I feel this is a big end to a long journey filled with ups, downs and challenges. I also know it’s a beginning to a future including more opportunities and courage to move forward. As it’s said, ‘one chapter ends and another one begins’,” she stated.
