Free Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) screenings offered

By On Deck Staff

Appointments are now being taken for the Friday, July 10, PAD screening program at Cape Regional Medical Center.
This free screening program is offered the second Friday of each month from 9 a.m. until noon at the Medical Center. Patients are asked to enter through the Patient Entrance.
Individuals who experience a feeling of heaviness or pain in their legs while walking, should make an appointment.
A common cause of such leg pain may be poor circulation or peripheral artery disease (PAD). This condition affects nearly 10 million Americans. If not treated, PAD can impair your ability to walk or lead to other serious conditions.
A brief history of symptoms and current health conditions will be requested when patients call for an appointment.
The 15 minute ultrasound screening procedure is noninvasive and involves taking blood pressures of your arms and pressures with ultrasound readings of your ankles.
Call Bonnie Kratzer, Center for Lifestyle Management Coordinator, at 609-463-4043 to schedule your appointment.
