NORTH WILDWOOD – Former North Wildwood mayor and Cape May County freeholder director Anthony T. Catanoso, 97, died Nov. 21, 2014. Catanoso served as mayor of North Wildwood for 27 years and served as freeholder for 21 years. He and his wife Phyllis were married 66 years.
Among Catanoso’s contributions to the community was that he spearheaded the saving of the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse, a landmark of Anglesea.

Catanoso is survived by a daughter, Pati and son-in-law Jack Sparks, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and an additional five great-grandchildren through marriage.
Mass was celebrated at St. Ann Church, Wildwood. Following the Mass, his body was interred at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery in Court House Nov. 25.
