Eagle Scout Project Dedicated in Woodbine

WOODBINE– Life Scout Francis Smyth, Jr., of Troop 56 completed his Eagle Scout project with a dedication ceremony on Saturday, May 15.
Smyth of Dennisville created a Memorial as his Eagle Scout Project in honor of the late Woodbine Police Chief Phillip J. DeSantis. Chief DeSantis was killed in the line of duty, on August 6, 1973 while trying to arrest a local man after he robbed and killed a gas attendant in Middle Twp.
The location of the Memorial is the Woodbine bikepath at the intersection of Route 550 and Heine Avenue.
