Dennis Eagle Scouts Honored by Masons, Legislators, County Officials

By Al Campbell

DENNISVILLE – Two Eagle Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 56 were presented with a memorial award Sat., April 21 that paid tribute to one of their own given by members of Cannon Lodge No. 104, Free and Accepted Masons, South Seaville.
Eagle Scouts Nicholas Resgigno and Brian Revoir stood on the stage at Dennis Township Primary School on Hagan Road before their parents and fellow scouts during a Court of Honor convened to bestow Boy Scouting’s highest rank on the pair.
Royce Robinson, past District Deputy Grand Master of the 24th Masonic District, flanked by Past Masters Robert Grace, John Leith and past Grand Chaplain Steve Kahny, presented each with the Thaddeus F. Lazowski Award as well as a $300 check. The ceremony was the premier presentation of that locally-inspired award.
The award was created jointly by the leadership of Boy Scout Troop 56 and Cannon Lodge No. 104 in memory of Lazowski, a 12-year-old troop member who was killed along with his father in a private airplane crash on Nov. 14, 2009. It is given to a scout in Troop 56 who achieves the Eagle rank.
Robinson said that the young Lazowski “thirsted for knowledge. He excelled in all the liberal arts and sciences while also participating in many sports. He was very active in many outdoor activities. He attended school at Cape Christian Academy and to church at South Seaville United Methodist Church.”
Robinson added that the award was intended to honor the Eagle Scout, also to “perpetuate the name of Thaddeus F. Lazowski for generations to come, charge all others to live by the scout law and do good unto all mankind especially unto those who are of the household of faith.”
Following the masons’ tribute to Resgigno and Revoir was Sheriff Gary Schaffer who delivered a resolution on behalf of U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-2nd) and a sheriff’s commendation. Schaffer told the scouts how important was the milestone they had reached. He told them in all his years in law enforcement administration, if an applicant was an Eagle Scout, that person’s applicant went to the top of his list. He noted that only the top 2 percent of scouts ever attain that rank, which indicates the person’s level of honor and work ethic.
Freeholder Vice Director M. Susan Sheppard appeared on behalf of Director Gerald Thornton and presented the scouts with freeholder resolutions attesting to their achievements.
Chaplain Joe Patrick and members of the Dramis Detachment, Marine Corps League presented Resgigno and Revoir with mementoes of Marines who were Eagle Scouts and who had received the nation’s top military award, the Medal of Honor.
Members of the First Legislative District team, Sen. Jeff Van Drew, Assemblymen Nelson Albano and Matthew Milam, (all D) presented the scouts with joint resolutions passed by the Legislature honoring their achievement.
Each spoke of the importance youths play in the future of the state, and the degree of honor they place in those who attain the Eagle Scout rank.
Dennis Township Mayor Eugene L. Glembocki presented the scouts with municipal resolutions attesting to their work in the community.
