COURT HOUSE – On Friday, April 15, 2011, thirty-one students from ten local schools were recognized at the annual Spring Networking and Awards Breakfast held at the Avalon Golf Club in Cape May Court House.
Each year Cape Assist sponsors a countywide Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contest to bring awareness to the issue of underage drinking. This year’s PSA topic was, “Don’t Drink & Drive, I’ll Tell You Why”. A winning PSA was chosen from each participating school. In addition, students from the Cape May County Technical High School created 60 second videos on the dangers of drinking and driving and on the topic of “Better Things To Do”.
The guests listened to the winners read their PSAs and viewed the videos. Each student received a citation from Cape Assist, the County Freeholder’s Office, New Jersey Legislature and from Congressman LoBiondo’s office.
During the month of May the PSAs will be aired on two local radio stations: WCFA-LP -101.5FM, the Center for Community Art’s non-profit station in Cape May and WCZT-98.7FM, The Coast.
