East Tennessee State University has announced the names of students who attained a grade point average qualifying them for inclusion in the dean’s list for the Spring 2015 semester. To receive this honor, students must successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours of undergraduate coursework with a grade point average of at least 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.

Carly Taylor of Marmora, joined more than 600 Lebanon Valley College students named to the Dean’s List for the Spring semester. Dean’s list students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.4 out of 4.0.
Taylor, a graduate of Ocean City High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in early childhood education and special education.

At its Alumni Excellence Awards ceremony Duquesne University’s Palumbo-Donahue School of Business recognized outstanding MBA Sustainability alumni.
Alumni of the program nominated outstanding peers in the three foundations of the MBA-Sustainability program: financial, social and environmental. They also recognized an alumnus for leadership. Laura Eloyan of Wildwood was one of these winners.
Eloyan, Class of 2010, is a public health analyst for the Centers for Disease Control. She recently spent time at ground zero analyzing the Ebola outbreak.

Carly Taylor of Marmora, is one of 39 Lebanon Valley College students studying away during summer break as part of the College’s study abroad program, which includes 15 foreign countries and two stateside internship opportunities.
Taylor is studying in Perugia, Italy as part of a three-week course titled Gastrophilosophy: Reflections on Place, Time and Identity.
Taylor, a graduate of Ocean City High School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Special Education at The Valley.

Olivia Gillespie of Woodbine was among The University of Scranton students inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, the national honor society in English. For induction into the honor society, students must be majors or minors in English, theatre or secondary education/English, have maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in English, theatre and writing courses and have an overall grade point average of 3.4 or higher.
Gillespie is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences at the Jesuit university.

While most college students have traded rigorous academic work for relaxing on the beach, Ocean City resident Joseph M. DiMarco will give up summer vacation to remain on campus at Saint Joseph’s University as a member of the Summer Scholars Program. DiMarco is one of 87 students who will engage in faculty-mentored research and creative projects at the University this summer.
The program, which runs for 11 weeks from May until August, requires students to work exclusively with a faculty member to produce a written description of their research that will be published by the University, and to present their findings next spring during the Celebration of Student Achievement event. For their work, students receive a stipend, on-campus housing, and the opportunity to participate in social and educational programs.
Research topics range from local and national issues in the sciences, business, education and history to extended analysis of literature and fine arts.
DiMarco, a Finance/Financial Planning major, will work with Benjamin F. Cummings on their topic, “High School Business Curriculum Study and Restructure.”

Mount St. Mary’s University student Christopher Gabor of Woodbine, was honored for his work in the classroom by earning Northeast Conference Academic(NEC) Honor Roll accolades.
Christopher plays on the Mount Men’s Track and Field team.
To be eligible for the NEC Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes had to achieve a 3.20 cumulative grade point average or better. Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better were placed on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll in addition to the Academic Honor Roll.
