Ryan Burke of Court House, has been named to the 2015 spring semester Dean’s List at Lafayette College for outstanding academic achievement. To qualify for Dean’s List, a student must achieve at least a 3.60 semester grade point average on a scale of 4.0. Burke is a graduate of Middle Township High School.

Ian deGrouchy, an International Relations major from Stone Harbor, is a member of the Colgate University Class of 2015.
deGrouchy is one of 732 students to graduate from Colgate May 17 during the university’s 194th commencement.

At the University of Rhode Island’s 129th Commencement Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17, about 3,200 undergraduate and 660 graduate students became the University’s newest alumni.

Brandon Eaves, of Court House, has earned High Honors for the spring semester of the 2014-2015 academic year at the University of New Hampshire.
Students named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Hampshire have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance. Highest Honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.

Jacob Heminway of Cape May, was named to the President’s List for Spring 2015 at Georgia State University. To be eligible for the President’s List, degree-seeking students with a minimum Georgia State cumulative GPA of 2.00 must earn a 4.00 GPA for the semester and complete at least nine semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

To be eligible for Dean’s List, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).

John Doerr, an Aviation Management major and resident of Marmora, was among the students from Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2015 semester.
To be included on the Dean’s List, a student must complete 12 or more graded credits in a semester with a semester grade point average of at least 3.4.

Delvescio’s major is Economics.

A psychology major at Stockton University, former Lower Cape May Regional class president and 2012 graduate Haley Matsinger, has kept up her academic and social intensity as she accomplishes her higher education goals at Stockton University.
Recently, Matsinger was honored by the Stockton Student Veterans Organization (SVO) who presented her with the first “Stockton Student Veteran Advocate Award” at their annual golf tournament and awards ceremony.
It’s an important honor for the Stockton Student Senator (and committee chair of the Student Senate finance committee) and a recognition that, as a result of Haley’s enthusiasm and empathy, a bridge was built between the college’s civilian students and those who have worn the uniform.

Joshua Otton of Stone Harbor, was named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Haven for the Spring 2015 semester. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean’s List.

Olivia Gillespie, of Woodbine, was among nearly 1,550 students named to The University of Scranton Dean’s List, which recognizes students for academic excellence during the 2015 spring semester. Gillespie is a senior English major in the University’s College of Arts and Sciences.

Mount St. Mary’s University student-athletes of spring sports were recognized for their excellence in the classroom as the Northeast Conference announced Academic and Commissioner’s Honor Rolls June 22.
Christopher Gabor, of Woodbine, who plays on the Mount St. Mary’s men’s track and field team, was one of the students honored.
To be eligible for the NEC Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes had to achieve a 3.20 cumulative grade point average or better. Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better were placed on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll in addition to the Academic Honor Roll.

Lyle Serber, son of William Serber and Jean Goudie of Ocean City, was selected as North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command’s (USNORTHCOM) Civilian of the Quarter (Category III) in a ceremony held June 1 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Serber was cited for professional excellence in the performance of his duties as a counter-narcotics and counter-narcoterrorism operations specialist with the Department of Defense, serving at USNORTHCOM as a Department of Defense civilian. Before accepting his position at USNORTHCOM, Serber served 13 years enlisted and as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Coast Guard. While in the Coast Guard, Serber was assigned to three Coast Guard Cutters, Operation Bahamas/Turks & Caicos, and Officer-In-Charge of three Law Enforcement Detachments (LEDETs) as part of the Coast Guard’s Deployable Specialized Forces program which conducts maritime counter-narcotic operations in the Eastern Pacific ocean and throughout the Caribbean. Serber also completed tours in Iraq and Haiti, where his LEDET’s efforts helped stabilize both regions from the threat of terrorism and impacts from natural disasters. When he resided in Ocean City, Serber served as a lifeguard on the Ocean City Beach Patrol for seven seasons and graduated from the Ocean City School District.
Serber is finishing his Master’s degree in Homeland Security at Colorado Technical University and plans to continue working in government service.

Sarah Laubengeyer of Woodbine, graduated summa cum laude with a doctor of physical therapy degree. She is a member of Alpha Eta Society, National Scholastic Honor Society for the Allied Health Professionals.
Dean Wetty of Court House, graduated summa cum laude with a doctor of pharmacy degree. He is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, National Honor Society of First-Year Students, and Rho Chi, National Honor Society of Pharmacy. He received the Merck Awards given to PharmD candidates for academic achievement.

Sarah, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McBride achieved this honor by maintaining a 3.4 or higher grade point average.

Mariah Smolka of Rio Grande, was among 214 Lebanon Valley College students who played a varsity sport during the 2015 spring season. Smolka, a graduate of Middle Township High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in chemistry and was a member of the women’s track and field team.
Lebanon Valley’s 2015 season ended with senior thrower Smolka earning a top 10 finish in the shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Canton, N.Y. in May. Smolka won a pair of MAC championships in the shot put and javelin throws en route to being named a first-team all-conference selection and the MAC Field Athlete of the Year.

Army Private Kevin Vargas has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Vargas is the son of Silenys Garabito of Tampa, Fla., and Henry Vargas of Wildwood.
He is a 2014 graduate of Jefferson High School, Tampa, Fla.

The largest graduating class in Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s (WPI) history, 1,680 students, received their degrees beneath a large, billowing tent that shielded graduates and well-wishers from the sun that occasionally peeked from behind generally cloudy skies.
