Patrick Carr of Ocean City, a doctor of pharmacy student in Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at University of the Sciences, received a white coat at a ceremony on Sept. 17. The white coat ceremony is an annual rite of passage for students in their first professional year (third year) of USciences’ six-year pharmacy program, and symbolizes their dedication to the profession of pharmacy and to the care of others.
Carr continues on the path to receiving a doctor of pharmacy degree in May 2020.

Devon Morris, a resident of Petersburg, has been selected to serve as a Presidential Ambassador for Dr. Rosalie Mirenda during her last year as president of Neumann University. Morris is a graduate of Ocean City High School.
Ambassadors are academically successful students who demonstrate Neumann University’s values: respect, integrity, service, excellence, and stewardship. They represent the University at a variety of events, including homecoming, charter day, meetings of the University Board of Trustees, and the scholarship gala where they network with donors and benefactors.
A nursing major and member of the field hockey team, Morris, 23, believes that “it is an honor to be selected as an example of the core values of the school.”

Sarita Charap of Ocean City was recognized by the State University of New York Athletic Conference as an Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 18.
Charap of the field hockey team was named Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week after recording a 2-0 week. The Ocean City native had a .833 save percentage in 150 minutes in goal, tallying 10 saves, while helping the Lakers improve to 4-0 on the season.

Oswego State field hockey moved to 3-0 on the year with a win at home over Wells College with help from Sarita Charap of Ocean City. The Lakers were led by Katie Reynolds’ four-points on two goals and an assist. Kendra Walker, Grace Rinaldi and Jordan Sheehy each scored while Lacey Woite and Julia Calandra recorded an assist apiece. Junior Sarita Charap made five saves for Oswego in the win.
