Boston University awarded academic degrees to 1,797 students in September 2017.                                                                            
Among the graduates was area resident David R. Morrison, who received a Master of Music in Music Education.

West Virginia University student-athlete Olivia Martinelli, of Petersburg, was coxswain for one of the womens’ varsity four boats finishing in first place during the first competitive row of the season against Duquesne and Dayton Oct. 7.
The second scrimmage against Robert Morris was held Oct. 21 with Martinelli coxing one of the varsity four boats to a first place finish in all three scrimmages of the day.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Jake Davis, of Woodbine, has been chosen for a weekly men’s cross country award by the Liberty League. The Rookie of the Week award is the second for Davis (Ocean City High School), who was previously honored Sept. 25.
The physics major was recognized this week after finishing fourth on the team and 15th overall with a time of 25:53.5 Oct. 14. He registered a mile pace of 5:12.5 en route to being the second freshman to finish, trailing only Middlebury College’s Matt D’Aquila (25:41.1).
Davis earned his first Rookie of the Week award after finishing third on the team and 21st overall with a 27:02.6 to help the Engineers to a second place finish in the 26-school Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College at Mount Greylock High School. He ran the 8k course in a 5:27 pace to finish second among all freshmen, trailing only MIT’s Slaney Kent, who was 17th overall (26:53.1). There were 324 total competitors in the field.

Drew University, Madison, has announced that Kieran Sullivan, of Cape May and Willingboro, is the recipient of the Cleon H. and Elsie Fisher scholarship for the 2017-2018 academic year. This scholarship acknowledges his outstanding academic achievement and his significant contributions to the community. Drew University is pleased to include Kieran in the distinguished group of people who have received this award in years past.
