Olivia Gillespie of Woodbine is among the five University of Scranton students awarded Fulbright grants, the esteemed merit-based scholarships, enabling them to spend a year conducting research or teaching abroad during the 2016-2017 academic year.
The Fulbright Program is the “flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government,” according to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields.

Joseph S. Delvescio of Ocean View graduated Cum Laude from Clemson University May 7 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.
Delvescio was among 3,200 students who received degrees in the graduation ceremony at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, S.C.

Rachel Marie Doerr of Ocean City has been named to the Spring 2016 Dean’s List at Kutztown University. To be eligible for Dean’s List, an undergraduate student must be registered for at least 12 credits and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60. More than 1,650 students were named to the list.

To be named to the University of Vermont dean’s list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Anson Hadley, a junior Biology major at Grove City College, has been named to the Dean’s List with Distinction for the Spring 2016 semester. Anson is a 2013 graduate of Ocean City High School and is the son of Dr. and Mrs. David Hadley (Denise) from Marmora.
Students eligible for the Dean’s List have a GPA of 3.40 to 3.59; for the Dean’s List with Distinction a GPA of 3.60 to 3.84 and for the Dean’s List with High Distinction a GPA of 3.85 to 4.0.

During commencement ceremonies May 23, Lehigh University conferred 1,159 bachelor’s, 519 master’s and 80 doctoral degrees. Of the nearly 1,700 graduates, degree recipients came from 39 states and 16 countries, majoring in 70 different disciplines.

Allyson Clark, a junior majoring in recreation and sport management, from Wildwood, was among approximately 1,940 students at Coastal Carolina University who made the Spring 2016 Dean’s List.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average.

Joshua Handshaw of Ocean City has been named to Millersville University of Pennsylvania’s Dean’s List for the spring 2016 semester. The 1,250 students named to Millersville University’s spring 2016 Dean’s List earned a semester grade-point average of 3.50 or higher and attempted at least 12 credits of course work.

David Prosser of Villas has been named to the Dean’s List at Paul Smith’s College for the spring 2016 semester. Prosser, who is majoring in biology, earned a semester average of 3.3 or higher to receive this distinction.

East Tennessee State University has announced the names of students who attained a grade point average qualifying them for inclusion in the dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester. To receive this honor, students must successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours of undergraduate coursework with a grade point average of at least 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.

Dean R. Howey of Ocean City was among the 476 students who graduated at Lebanon Valley College’s 147th Commencement Exercises May 14. The 369 graduating seniors were joined by 37 doctor of physical therapy candidates, and 70 master’s degree candidates.
Howey received a bachelor of science in music education. Howey is a graduate of Ocean City High School.

Sarah Schiffelbein of Villas delivered the student address at the Caldwell University graduate commencement ceremony May 15.
She received her master’s in curriculum and instruction with a teacher of students with disabilities certification.
She said that Caldwell supported the students throughout their journey in numerous ways. “Any time we felt defeated and discouraged, Caldwell was there to support us. When we saw our theses and dissertations slowly taking form and becoming the final product, Caldwell was there supporting us. Now, today, as we are walking on this stage to accept our degrees, Caldwell is here to support us…along with our family and friends.”

Marmora native Mia Tomkins was among those inducted.
