The following local students earned academic honors from Cabrini University for the spring 2017 semester: 
Alexis Douglass, of Cape May, was named to the Dean’s List. 
Alexa Piro, of Cape May, was named to the President’s List. 
Katherine Fiore, of Court House, was named to the Dean’s List. 
Taylor Franchville, of Court House, was named to the Dean’s List. 
Kevin Laffey, of Wildwood, was named to the Dean’s List. 
Dean’s List students have achieved a GPA of 3.5-3.89 for coursework completed at Cabrini with a minimum of 15 credits. President’s List students have achieved a GPA of 3.9 or higher for coursework completed at Cabrini with a minimum of 15 credits.

The following Cape May County student was awarded a degree from Cabrini University at its 57th Commencement May 21: 
Ryan Klott, of Court House, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in exercise science and health promotion.

Jaclyn Gehring, of Wildwood, is one of 120 students working this summer in Union College’s summer research program.
Gehring, a member of the Class of 2020, is working in the Physics and Astronomy department on a project titled “Solid-state diffusion in metals and sulfides: Applications to iron meteorites and the age of the solar system.”

At the University of Rhode Island’s 131st Commencement May 20-21, about 2,600 undergraduate and 650 graduate students became the University’s newest alumni.
The following students graduated from the university:
Jim Lawrence Handshaw, of Ocean City, received a Doctor of Pharmacy Magna Cum Laude
Christian Mark Gill, of Seaville, received a Doctor of Pharmacy Summa Cum Laude
Alicia Gabrielle Palombo, of Seaville, received a Doctor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Arts, French Cum Laude
Students who received the honor summa cum laude graduated with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.7; students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of at least 3.50; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of at least 3.3.

Navy Capt. Michael O’Leary has assumed command of Naval Support Activity South Potomac during a ceremony at Naval Support Activity South Potomac, Va.

O’Leary is the son of Francine and Tim O’Leary of North Wildwood.

He is a 1990 graduate of Wildwood High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1994 from Drexel University, Philadelphia.

More than 7,000 students received degrees during the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s spring commencement ceremonies, May 11-12.
Local degree recipient is:

Jaclyn Gehring, of Wildwood, was named to the 2017 Dean’s List at Union College.
Gehring is a member of the Class of 2020, majoring in Geology.
To be named to the Dean’s List, Union students must have a grade point average of 3.5 for the entire academic year and meet certain other requirements.

Devon Terwilliger, a member of the class of 2019, from Woodbine, has been named to the spring 2017 Dean’s List at Loyola University Maryland.
In order to qualify for the Dean’s List at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum GPA of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that, in the term they have successfully completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits.

Charleston Southern University has named Bailey Elizabeth Carney, of Court House, to the Dean’s List for the spring 2017 semester. Carney is a freshman majoring in Prenursing Program. 
Charleston Southern names students to the Dean’s List who have earned a 3.5 GPA or better and 12 or more credit hours for the semester.

Elizabeth Sheffield, of Ocean City, who is studying film and animation, made the Dean’s List for the 2017 spring semester at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean’s List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of “Incomplete”, “D” or “F”; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

Stevenson University student Lauren Novsak, of Court House, is honored for being named to the Spring 2017 Semester Dean’s List. Students who earn the Dean’s List honor must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a grade point average of a 3.50 or better.

Lauren Novsak, of Court House, is spending her summer serving as a Walter Sondheim Jr. Maryland Nonprofit Leadership Fellow. Lauren’s placement is at the Living Classrooms Foundation where she promotes the work being accomplished by the third through eighth grade students whom the organization serves. Her tasks include organizing and planning community events with partners, meeting with the members of the Southeast Youth Collaborative, planning and promoting events for the YouthWorks program, and assisting the summer camp staff with field trip planning.
As a leadership fellow, Lauren is provided with an opportunity to build valuable skills, explore career choices within the nonprofit sector, attend various seminars on nonprofits, leadership development, and creating social change, and network with Maryland’s leaders.

Seton Hall University is pleased to announce the following students who qualified for Spring 2017 Dean’s list and to congratulate them for their outstanding academic achievements. Qualifications for Dean’s list include enrolling as a full-time matriculated student with a minimum of 12 undergraduate credits, completing all courses with a GPA of 3.4 or above, and with no grades lower than “C”.

To be named to the President’s List, a student must achieve a 4.0 (all As) grade-point average.

Christine M. Mullan, of Ocean View, has been named to the Dean’s List at Clemson University for the spring 2017 semester.
Mullan is majoring in Chemical Engineering.
To be named to the Dean’s List, a student achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.

Ange Uwimana, of Court House, was named to the Marist College Dean’s List for the spring 2017 semester. Uwimana is a member of the Class of 2017 and is majoring in Biomedical Sciences.
