AVALON — An Avalon resident said he saw the image of the Virgin Mary in the clouds while visiting the beach on March 8.
Col. Kevin McAleese (ret. Army) told the Herald he was on a borough beach Thur. March 8 with a friend. The pair were taking pictures of the beach.
“We weren’t looking for anything like that,” he said. “It was just a beautiful day.”
When he looked at the picture on his friend’s cell phone he said he could clearly see the shape of the Virgin Mary.
“It’s a gift to see the Blessed Mother,” he told the Herald.
McAleese was diagnosed with Stage IV brain cancer in May, 2010. Patients diagnosed with his type of cancer statistically have a survival span of approximately one year. McAleese has lived with his cancer for 22 months.
“It’s a message,” he said of seeing the vision, “saying to do what you have to do to make a difference.”
