VILLAS — Commander Sarah J. Arnold of this community, was presented with a Distinguished Alumni Award from Gwynedd-Mercy College’s Alumni Association at a September ceremony.
The Distinguished Alumni Award is the College’s highest alumni honor. It acknowledges the achievements of exceptional alumni whose personal lives, professional achievements and community service embody the objectives of their alma mater.
Arnold, class of 1991, is a preventative medicine officer for the United States Navy who has served in Indonesia, Japan and two tours of duty in Iraq, among others. She was recognized for her tireless work to provide medical care to her fellow soldiers and to the people living in impoverished nations around the world.
In U. S. News & World Report’s 2011 edition of “Best Colleges,” Gwynedd-Mercy College ranked in the first tier of its category, which is largely attributed to its high graduation and retention rates.
The college prepares students to become top professionals in the fields of allied health professions, arts and sciences, business, education and nursing.
